Flatiron Dermatology Aesthetics > Chemical Peels

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels have come a long way. These are not your deep, aggressive peels that require a lot of at home recovery time post peel. They are gentler peels that provide a smoother, more even texture and color of the skin surface. These advanced solutions combine exfoliating acids and melanogenesis inhibitors (dark spot treatments). Excellent for acne, acne scarring, melasma, skin rejuvenation, and sun damaged skin. Ideal for balancing overall skin texture and tone. Whether it be for a refresher or for corrective purposes, every skin type and ethnicity can enjoy more healthy and luminous skin.
  • Trichloroacetic Acid
  • Salicylic Acid*
  • Glycolic Acid
* Recommended for sensitive skin types.

Precautions of Chemical Peels

If you are considering a chemical peel, please refrain from using any retinoids, hydroquinones, scrubs, or any exfoliating products. Also avoid facial waxing, facial hair threading, and electrolysis five days prior to peel appointments.

If your goal is to improve melasma, sun damage, or any post-inflammatory pigmentation, it is recommended to use a hydroquinone-producer or other skin lightening agent as part of your skin care regimen in addition to a daily sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher). To achieve best results, a series of treatments are suggested.

*No Peels will be performed on tanned skin.
