Athena McDonald-Smith, M.S., PA-C is a board certified Physician Assistant who specializes in dermatology. Athena graduates from Penn State University with a bachelors degree in BioBehavioral Health. She continued her studies at Touro College to then graduate with another bachelors and a masters degree in Physician Assistant studies. 

Athena's interests include eczema, acne, skin cancers, and psoriasis. Athena's main concern is making sure all patients feel comfortable and cared for. Athena is able to diagnose, treat, perform procedures, and work in collaboration with the practicing physicians.

What is a Physician Assistant?

Physician Assistants are health care professionals licensed to practice medicine with physician supervision. As part of their comprehensive responsibilities, PAs conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests, counsel on preventive health care, perform surgery, and write prescriptions. Within the physician-PA relationship, physician assistants exercise autonomy in medical decision making and provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services. A PA's practice may also include education, research, and administrative services.
